Quick and Easy Acne Home Remedies

In contrast to dark spots, acne scars can be like keloids or ice-picked scars. Keloids are the ones that are caused by a lot of tissue formation leaving an elevated skin scar. Ice-picked scars look like moon crates on the face. This is usually caused by the lack of tissue formation during the healing process of acne. Now, there are several ways on how to get rid of these unsightly scars. Of course, initial prevention would be to keep the face clean at all times and; whenever there is a sight of pimple or minor zits, don’t ever prick them as this may cause inflammation leading to acne.

Acne is one of the skin problems that some teenagers face today. These skin break outs sometimes last until the end of puberty where there is a lot of hormonal change happening to the teenager’s body. But for some people, acne is part of their lives even past the puberty stage.

The appearance of these inflamed sebaceous glands on the face is caused by the over production of the body’s oil glands. At some point the acne does not heal properly causing a scar that stays on the skin for a long time. Other issues concerning the appearance of scars after the acne heals are skin color, heredity or improper skin care. People often get that dark spot marking the area where the acne was before. This spot can be easily managed by the use of cosmetic concealers or make-up. But in the long run, you will still be bothered by its presence since it is a skin flaw that really doesn’t look good on the skin, especially on the face. Usually the black spot will last for up to six months and it could even get worse with the skin’s exposure to UV rays. After it has gone, you will no longer see a trace of acne.

Once you have acne, you can immediately prevent scarring by curing the acne itself instead of pricking it. The curing process will not happen in an instant and sometimes this is the reason why people try to prick them to immediately remove that oily substance from the zit. This may be easier but you are just aggravating the appearance of scar as the acne will not heal properly all by itself. The healing of acne should only be triggered by you in a subtle way. And the following will show you some kitchen tips on how to cure acne and remove that scar.

Lemon juice

Squeeze a lemon on a saucer and with the use of a cotton ball, rub the lemon juice on your face focusing on the acne or scarred area. Leave it for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off with clean water. The acidity of the lemon will help heal the acne faster and it can lighten the scar too.

Honey

Honey is known to smoothen the skin. It is also used to dry out the acne and give the skin its natural glow. You can take a sufficient amount of it to be rubbed on your face and even on parts of your body where acne is present. It is also exfoliating the skin removing the dead skin cells. After 20 minutes rinse it off with clean water.

Baking Soda

Make a paste of baking soda by mixing it with water. Rub gently on the acne affected area and let stand for 2-3 minutes. This will help exfoliate the skin and remove scars as well. Rinse off with clean water.

Cucumber

Slice several rounds of cucumber and rub on your face. You can also leave the sliced portion into your face while lying down. Cucumber does not have much acid content so it is safe to be left on your skin for a longer time. This is great in reducing inflammation making the acne heal faster. Wash your face with clean water when done.

Tomato slice

Get a tomato and slice it into two. Using half of it, rub the tomato on your face where the acne is predominant. Rub it also in the areas where scars are present. Let it rest on your skin for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off with clean water. The substance in the tomato does not only help healing of the acne but it also makes the skin more elastic preventing the occurrence of scars.

All the above treatments can be done on a daily basis to give your skin the natural feeding to avoid scars and prevent further formation of bacteria causing acne.
